Vernus AI secures USD 8.4 million in seed funding

Vernus AI has closed a USD 8.4 million seed round. The round combines cash, AI compute and quantum computing resources.

Investors include Compal Electronics, Orient EuroPharma (OEP), PharmaSTAR BioT Venture Capital and several pharmaceutical experts. It is the first time Taiwan's technology and pharmaceutical industries have co-invested in AI for drug development. The funding will accelerate deployment and international expansion of our manufacturing technology.

ReAIX: AI, quantum computing and physics simulation

Vernus AI was founded in the second half of 2025 by Dr. Jimmy Yen-Chu Lin, former CEO of Insilico Medicine Taiwan, with Professor Gonçalo Bernardes of the University of Cambridge and Associate Professor Tiago Rodrigues of the University of Lisbon.

The team trains large language models on domain knowledge to build ReAIX AI agents for chemistry, biology and formulation. The agent acts as the platform's brain, working like a senior process scientist that connects the digital tools used across pharmaceutical processes.

Physics simulation optimizes parameters such as fluid dynamics to keep scale-up precise and stable. Combined with chemical and biological kinetic simulation, it continuously produces high-quality synthetic data, forming a closed loop that trains the AI models. The goal is a high-fidelity digital twin platform for drug manufacturing.

Expanding globally

Vernus AI has completed several projects with pharmaceutical companies in Taiwan and abroad. The new funding goes to developing and iterating the ReAIX platform, deepening partnerships in Taiwan and launching international business development.

“Compal's investment in Vernus AI reflects our commitment to quantum and AI technology, which sit at the core of future medical transformation. With our foundation in AI servers and the group's medical strategy, we look forward to accelerating the deployment of the Vernus AI platform.”

Eric Peng, Executive Vice President, Compal Group, and Head of Compal's Medical Business Unit

“Vernus AI's combination of AI, quantum computing and process physics simulation offers the pharmaceutical industry a new technical path and shows Taiwan's international potential in advanced pharmaceutical technology.”

Peter Tsai, Chairman, Orient EuroPharma Group

“In the highly specialized management of pharmaceutical plants, training AI agents for every department to raise efficiency and competitiveness has become essential. We look forward to bringing new thinking and technology to the digital transformation of pharmaceutical plants with Vernus AI.”

Dr. Lyman Lee, General Partner, PharmaSTAR BioT Venture Capital

“AI in drug development is not limited to early discovery. Manufacturing also urgently needs AI to improve efficiency and solve difficult processes. The support of partners like Compal, OEP and PharmaSTAR combines the computing power of the technology industry with the practical experience of the pharmaceutical industry. We believe ReAIX will become a new standard for drug manufacturing.”
